Switching to Copenhagen Tobacco

June 4th, 2010

Chewing tobacco is a great alternative to smoking cigarettes or cigars.  I have been a long time tobacco user, I have tried pretty much everything under the sun.  But, with a recent smoking ban in my town, I have forced to get my nic fit another way when I am in public places.  I have turned to Copenhagen Tobacco as my newly found hobby.  I didn’t think that I was going to like chewing, I have seen plenty of pictures online to know what the consequences are. But since I have been smoking for more than 15 years, and all of my rights have been taken away, I decided to switch. I was pleasantly surprised with the satifaction I got from the chew.  I was expecting to miss holding the cigarette and having something to do with my hands, but I actually don’t.  Chewing tobacco has been my new hobby for about 3 months now, and it is rather inexpensive compared to cigarettes and especially cigars. I first was getting all of my chew from the gas station, but one of my friends suggested that I check online.  That was a good idea, because I have found my favorite copenhagen for way less than what I get locally. And, I can buy in bulk for the month, usually the shipping cost isn’t too bad and then I don’t have to worry about running out.  I just replace an order when I am down to my last 2 cans and it will get to me in about a week.  My stomach has gotten used to the chew now, I think I have better control over not swallowing it, which is a huge help. I have always stuck with Copenhagen Tobacco, it is premium tobacco at a reasonable price.  Others that I have tried either leave a bad taste in my mouth or are too expensive.

Let the Barbeque Season Open

April 14th, 2010

It’s time to delouse your griddles, put on your shorts and sandels and revel in the day out barbecuing and puffing awesome Cigars. Along with my fave cigars, I really like to sip on a drink of scotch and just relax. After such a long winter, which seemed to be longer than years past, last weekend was perfect BBQ weather. I was able to finally open all of my windows and air out the house. I do not smoke inside, but it needed displaying out anyway. I tuned up my lawn mower because yes, unfortunately it is that time of the year too. The snow is gone and the grass is growing. I do not mind cutting my grass and keeping the grass up. There is really a great satisfaction to a good looking lawn and worth all the effort. This past weekend, I smoked my favourite cigar and BBQ’d up some ribs and pork steaks. I really like to think of myself as the master chef, king of the grill. There is nothing like lighting those coals and going to town on bounteous meats and veggies. Naturally I am a charcoal man, I adore the flavour of the griddle. If you use gas, it doesn’t get the smokey flavour that I love and is way overrated. I invited all of my buddies and naturally the spouse and youngsters were there. It is a little to cold to swim yet, but once memorial day comes around, I’m going to open the pool for the season. My youngsters love swimming and splashing around, also I am known to take a dip with cigar and scotch in hand. Summer is just such a great time to get together with buddies and relatives and enjoying life they way you wish to.

Optaining Your Travelling Humidor

March 17th, 2010

There is nothing better than lighting up a smoke when it’s the time to ease up, either after work, on the golfing course and after we take care of something major, like a personal and a professional victory.  And the longer we smoke smokes and become more acquainted with stogies – the more we find out more about taking care of them.  And naturally when we begin to smoke better, more expensive brands, we learn how important it is to keep them at there optimum level of freshness.  You didn’t have to stress about getting a portable case for your Dutch Master Cigars that you used to smoke. So when its time to travel with our stogies -or even if we only want a smarter way to store them while on the way to work or out on small business dinners -we definitely want a smarter way to guard there flavor, as well as carry them correctly.  And selecting a Cigar Travel Humidor should be something that we take somewhat seriously.  Truthfully, when you concentrate on it, more people will see our travel humidor than will see our home or primary humidor.  So choosing a good, quality travelling humidor must be handled with the same kind of thought and detail as when we chose our home humidor.  Here are some tips for picking a travelling humidor : These are the fundamentals, but knowing them will prepare you for your search.  The Size- essentially, how many cigars will you travel with.  Don’t be scared to over do it a little bit.  Clearly, it is better to have extra space than not enough.  Lid and Seal – Depending on the type of humidor you want – whether or not it’s a solid case / box -or a leather one – The lid must close on a cushion of air.  We don’t want ANY air within our humidor.  Air is the enemy and without regard for size, we must purchase a cigar travel humidor that follows the same elements as a regular humidor.  Inside and Lining – For traveling, our cigar humidor needs fingered casing so that our cigars stay nice and snug during our travels -especially for long distance trips.  And a good insulated material is always an extra.  Humidifier Device – i have seen some guys that actually paid money on a humidor with no humidifier device – and its a total let down.  The Humidifier is the spine of a good, quality travel humidor.  That is what controls the inside humidity levels within the stogie travel humidor.

The simplest way to identify a Fake Cigar

March 8th, 2010

The number one rule of identifying counterfeit Marsh Wheeling cigars is the long standing saying “caveat emptor” – buyers beware. Always keep this in mind if you are purchasing Havanas, even when you are purchasing them overseas in what seems to be a credible tobacconist’s corporation. Many fake Cuban cigars are sold from storefronts in countries where they are absolutely legal and sometimes without the knowledge of the store owner. Remember counterfeiters are driven by profit potential and wherever you are in the world the profit on Cuban cigars is always a tantalizing target for wrongdoers.

Quality Cigar Production

February 10th, 2010

Just as the EU wine industry experienced tension and growing pains as united states wine producers gained international accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market realities that they are now not the world leader in cigar production and cigar quality.  In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that implies ) will not, can not return Cuba to its glory days.  The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in many of the nations mentioned above, and there is no indication that they will go out of business if the embargo is lifted.  They’re gaining notoriety and accolades for making quality products that the U.  S.  cigar fan has grown to accept and love.

Only Days till the Tobacco Ban

December 29th, 2009

Well, Saint Louis has adopted a smoking ban for all public facilities, with only a small number allowances. I’m so sick and tired of my legal rights being eliminated, I’m tired. I don’t understand why non-smokers have such a stong personal judgement on what we smokers do. Everyone knows that smoking is risky, but I made a conscience decision when I began smoking, observant of the fact it was harmful. Just because non-smokers want me to cease, won’t mean that it is going to happen. Smoking in bars has been a privilage, but most restaurants have a chosen smoking room. If non-smokers do not want to inhale the smoke, don’t sit in the smoking room, you are not unwilling made to sit in that section. And as well as the employees of these restaurants that argue they are affected by second hand smoke, prove it. I worked in the service industry for more than 10 years, and I know that most of thepeople I worked with were smokers.  Dealing with the public, if anything, compels you to puff.  Also, I have never heard any non-smoking co-worker ever protest about cigarette smoke while at work in the smoking room. Putting a smoking restriction in restaurants and bars, can only save me money, because I won’t eat out after the first of the year.

All I have to have for the holiday: Stogies!

December 18th, 2009

I have made a decision this christmas to plead for simple gifts that my wife can pick up competently for me. My selection, as always, is my well-beloved cigar from onyx-cigars.com. My wife doesn’t even have to depart from our home, she can go on the web (I have all my favorites sites saved) and throw in the order there. As far as other gifts, she can go to the nearest store and pick something up. She mentions every year that I am utterly baffling husband to buy for. But we have been together for about 15 years! And if she doesn’t realize the things I want by now, I quit. I constantly articulate every Christmas, “I want smokes”, I puff on 1 or 2 per day, and that adds up. I bought a humidor for keeping my smokes, “what’s that for?” she inquires. Well my love, it’s to keep my cigars crisp. So, if you get me cigars for December I can keep them in the humidor for a couple months and remove a cigar when I am wanting to fancy one. Although I have to say, I was lucky last year, she gave me a lighter that was ingraved with my initials. The year before, she got me a fishing pole, because I said I wanted to go fishing again someday. Well, I went fishing one time in two years, but guess what, I still puff 1-2 smokes every day. So what do I want for my present this year? I want Cigars, and whatever else would just be an secondary delight.

Tobacco: Information for the novice tobacco smoker

November 10th, 2009

The typical method of categorizing cigars is by the method in which they are made. Cigars are either rolled by hand, or manufactured by machines. The novice smoker may be tempted to start by trying those machine made brands sold in Drug Stores, such as Parodi. However, the aspiring connoisseur should consider spending a few more pennies and moving up to hand rolled cigars, which are sold online or at a local tobacconist.

Daily Smokers Vs Connoisseurs
MostIndividual cigar smokers have their own unique tastes, and have their own individual financial constraints. Those who like smoking several cigars per day may need an “everyday” cigar that is less expensive. Therefore, the taste and cost of machine made cigars can be very attractive to some smokers. However, to the new smoker or experienced connoisseurs, the ones who enjoy an occasional cigar as a special treat, the hand rolled cigar is worth every penny.
